Funniest Lady

Nope, I speak not of Barbra Steisand or Fanny Brice.  Not Kristen Chenoweth.  It's Chenoweth's dog.  No, that's not quite it, either.  It's her dog's name, Madeline.  Are you getting a clue? Chenoweth named the little fluff ball after her idol, the late Madeline Kahn.  Now there was one funny lady.  When she opened her mouth, I laughed.  Her voice, her delivery.  When I need a good laugh, I replay in my head her line as she alighted from a stagecoach after a bumpy ride in "Blazing Saddles." A line that could only have been written by the totally, wonderfully wacky Mel Brooks:  "My tits are falling off!"  There's not another actress on the planet who could have done it as well.

  1. Blazing saddles was a funny movie for that era!

  2. Please tell me you've seen "CLUE: The Movie."  If you haven't, get thee to Blockbuster and rent it.  Now.  Did you rent it yet?  I'll wait.

    Oh. My. Kahn.

The film had a massive inflcuence on my sense of humor when I saw it in middle school.  I've watched it at least 100 times and could easily watch it 1,000 more.

And Madeline Kahn is a big part of the magic.  I mean, of course, Martin Mull and Christopher Lloyd and Eileen Brennan and Tim Curry and Michael McKean pulled their hilarious weight, but Madeline Kahn's five-times-(suspiciously)-widowed Mrs. White steals the show.

I just got a rabbit -- he's a boy, otherwise I might have considered naming him Madeline.  I might save that for the next pet...

  3. Thanks for letting me know about Clue.  How did that one get by me?  If Madeline's in it I gotta see it.
